ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS
AA is an international fellowship started in 1935 with the purpose to help alcoholics stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.

NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS
NA was created in 1953 as a non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem.

GOVERNMENT
In 1972, the Secretary of Health and Human Services created the National Institute on Drug Abuse. This organization now fights the opioid epidemic.

THE HARM REDUCTION COALITION
Founded in 1993 and incorporated in 1994 by a working group of needle exchange providers, advocates and drug users. They are extensive and diverse network of allies who challenge the persistent stigma faced by people who use drugs and advocate for policy and public health reform

Of the 323 million people in the USA (2017), the DEA stated that "40 million people have used some illegal drug within the last year."

Babies
Every 25 minutes in the US, a newborn is born fighting extreme withdrawal symptoms from heroin, mephedrone, painkillers, or cocaine. 28 million children are born into families affected by addiction and 11 million of them will become addicts.

Students
At an all-time high, public school and private schools have reported a 54% increase in drug availability on campus. 61% of students have called their schools "drug infected," compared with 46% in 2002.

Clinicians
In June 2017, the CDC reported over 1,100+ calls a day nationwide regarding overdose.

Chronic Pain Sufferers
"Sales of prescription opioids in the U.S. nearly quadrupled from 1999 to 2014,1 but there has not been an overall change in the amount of pain Americans report. During this time period, prescription opioid overdose deaths increased similarly" (CDC)

MILITARY
More than 20% of veterans with PTSD also suffer from an addiction or dependence on drugs or alcohol.
