Two years ago, our inaugural End Overdose chapter was founded by current directors Maddie Ward and Gianna Uy at UCLA. It was an organic process, from our founder Theo Krzywicki speaking on the UCLA campus, to Maddie and Gianna realizing their campus needed the resources we offer. As of today – after months of deliberation, interviews, and internal discussions – we’re thrilled to welcome 20 new chapters to the End Overdose family and reach 50 chapters across 26 states nationwide.
Overdoses are the #1 cause of death for adults ages 18-45, so our outreach to Gen Z and Millennials is vital. With chapters primarily based on college campuses, we’ve trained tens of thousands of young people across the United States. Our new chapters bring us closer to realizing our lifesaving mission to end overdose-related deaths through education, medical intervention, and public awareness.
Director of External Affairs & Programs Gianna Uy says, “I’m very excited to have 20 new chapters led by dedicated individuals who have advocated for the need for End Overdose resources in their community. We are committed to making overdose prevention resources accessible to all young people across the country, and are working with the best teams to make that a reality!”
Director of Operations Maddie Ward adds, “The addition of 20 new chapters to the End Overdose chapter program marks a significant milestone in our mission to combat drug-related overdoses across the country. Each chapter is full of passionate campus and community leaders dedicated to spreading lifesaving resources and education. We are so grateful for the hard work of our current and incoming chapter leadership teams and cannot wait to see the impact they have on their states, cities, and campuses.”
We’d like to officially extend a warm welcome to the following schools: New York University, Columbia University, University at Buffalo, Kean University, California State Long Beach, UC Davis, Colorado State University, Oregon State University, Gonzaga University, University of Missouri-Columbia, Case Western Reserve University, DePaul University, University of Miami, University of Arkansas, Wake Forest School of Medicine, University of South Florida, and Emory University. We’d also like to welcome our new regional chapters in the Bay Area, Phoenix, and Las Vegas.
We’re excited to work with these new chapters alongside our amazing returning chapters and continue our mission to end overdose!
